LG G2

After initially saying that the LG G2 will be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat at some point in November/December, SFR France has posted an update on its blog to announce handset owners that the rollout has been postponed to early 2014. The carrier said that the update may be available in late January, without committing to an actual roll out date, assuming that the internal testing is completed by that time. The first screenshots showing the LG G2 running KitKat have hit the web not too long ago from South Korea. But LG and its carrier partners are yet to release the update, so French LG G2 owners aren’t the only ones waiting to move to the next Android OS version – at least officially. In fact, LG Canada has recently said that Canadians will get the update even later, in March 2014. Unofficially though – not that we’re advising you to go down that road – custom ROMs based on KitKat are already available for the smartphone. While the LG G2 is basically the bigger brother of the Nexus 5, this clearly doesn’t mean that the flagship handset will receive a quicker updates. We’ve just seen another LG device get updated Android 4.4.2 a lot faster than anticipated, although that was the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition, which has a different status than “regular” phones from OEMs. Android Authority
